At VFW Post 649, we are committed to serving not only our veterans but also the broader Augusta-Richmond County community. Our dedication to service extends beyond our Post walls, as we actively engage in initiatives that support local organizations, youth programs, and those in need.
We proudly support Compass for Hope, a community-driven organization dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness. Our members volunteer their time and resources to provide meals, essential supplies, and encouragement to those facing hardship. Through these efforts, we uphold the VFW’s mission of giving back to those who need it most.
Our Post actively assists Girl Scout Troop 20106 through our Adopt-a-Unit Program, helping to foster leadership, service, and patriotism in young scouts. By mentoring and collaborating with these young leaders, we instill the values of duty, honor, and country while supporting their efforts to give back to military families and the community.
We believe in empowering our youth by supporting local high school athletic programs. By providing sponsorships and attending events, we help student-athletes develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills—qualities that align with the core values of our veterans and service members.
At VFW Post 649, "NO ONE DOES MORE FOR VETERANS", but our commitment extends to uplifting our entire community. We welcome volunteers and supporters to join us in these efforts. If you're interested in getting involved, contact us today!
